Spectravideo (SVI) produce a range of Z80 based computers running a powerful version of Microsoft Basic and utilising the Texas Instruments range of graphics processors with their own dedicated memory. The early SVI machines were a precursor to the MSX compatible machines for a multitude of Japanese manufacturers that followed later. They are very similar, but some subtle changes made them incompatible with the MSX software that followed: There were two primary models: SVI-318 - Aimed at the entry level market, with a rubber keyboard and an inbuilt joystick. SVI-328 - Aimed more at the small business market this machine came with more memory and a proper keyboard. |
